The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards

The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to improving the safety and quality of health care in Australia through continual review of performance, assessment and accreditation. Since 1974, the ACHS has maintained its position as the leading independent authority on the measurement and implementation of quality improvement systems for Australian health care organisations.

The brief …
To redesign and redevelop the ACHS corporate print profile across a suite of products including corporate stationery and a wide range of corporate, promotional, medical, scientific and educational products.

The challenge …
The organisation's wide diversity of published products had to be easily and quickly recognised as ACHS publications by new customers, reinforce the benefits of continuing membership to current customers, and resonate with stakeholders in the community of interest including State and Federal governments, medical colleges, the wider health industry and health consumers. While diverse in size, style, content and purpose, all publications had to sell a common message: ACHS leadership in improving the quality and standard of health care through a comprehensive program of education, leadership, excellence, commitment, integrity, transparency, team work, a consumer focus and cultural responsiveness to prospective customers.

The outcome … Our original contract for one year was extended to four years and by June, 2005, we had developed
	new corporate livery
	a comprehensive, adaptable, print and electronic style guide
	a suite of promotional brochures, banners and a promotional image bank
	a series of cover styles to accommodate quarterly and annual editions of sets of manuals and educational tools to support the organisation's national Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program (EQuIP)
	a guide for ACHS surveyors
	a series of annual reports, print and electronic newsletters
	a series of comprehensive medical and scientific reports
	the first publication to present information on the performance of quality and safety systems in the majority of health care organisations across Australia
	a case bound corporate history — ACHS: 30 Years — researched, written, designed and produced by GBA Communications.
